Executive A Thriller edition by Leslie Wolfe Literature Fiction eBooks

Alex Hoffman is a talented Information Technology analyst and arguably one of the best in her current field. Having achieved much in her 29 years, Alex is blindsided when she is suddenly let go at her job without any warning or reason. When she stumbles across a job posting in her search that seems tailor made for her abilities and goal she feels that this could be too good to be true. The online application, while bizarre, piques her interest and when an interview is offered she jumps at the chance to learn more about this enigmatic company. As her employment progresses, Alex learns that she has been chosen to join a small but important entity whose mission is to partner with various companies to integrate and uncover possible corporate subterfuge. Alex’s rookie assignment with the Agency seems simple enough; she must pose as a new executive in a well-established tech and machinery manufacturing company to attempt to uncover the source or recent possible leaks that have led to a drop in the company’s stock. Once inside the company, it becomes apparent that the problems plaguing Nanotech may be worse than initially anticipated with Alex’s curiosity has placing a target squarely on her back.

Having previously read “The Ghost Pattern” which is book number 4 in the Alex Hoffmann series of thrillers by Leslie Wolfe, I was already acquainted with many of the characters. It was good to rewind and witness Alex’s origins with the team and become more acquainted with the Agency and their work. I loved how the story progresses and we see how influential the Agency is in everything from acquiring Alex to consulting with their sometimes-high profile clients and leading their investigations to their conclusion. Alex’s experiences at Nanotech are downright nightmarish. Reading some of the board room meeting practically gave me anxiety. Having been in a similar work culture in the past, it’s easy to imagine that this sort of stuff happening more often than anyone would like to mention. The fact that Nanotech is a company that specializes in drone production with military contracts also adds in a current element that leaves the reader wondering about the overall safety of this type of technology and what can happen if this knowledge finds its way into the wrong hands.

Executive is a solid story with a great premise and action that will have the reader on the edge of their seat. After having read Executive, I am ready to delve in to the other books Alex Hoffmann series to see what else life in the Agency has in store for her and her team.

Executive A Thriller edition by Leslie Wolfe Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Leslie Wolfe's "Executive" introduces Alex Hoffmann, highly intelligent, creative, and fit. She gets recruited into "The Agency" via a recruiting process that borders on the comical—but how should I know anything about how you become a private corporate sleuth?

After a frighteningly short training—this isn't the government—Alex gets her first case. She uses her skills to hire on as a manager in a company the owner of which suspects funny business sudden and oddly timed stock market dives, a drastic uptick in customer issues, and a dysfunctional office environment that makes Dilbert look like a fun fair.

The thriller works Alex and her support team are likable, the baddies sufficiently dastardly, their machiavellian plot sinister, and the denouement satisfying. There's a dash of romance, a dollop of humor, and a sprinkle of social criticism. By today's standards it's pretty clean, which I appreciate, too. With all that, I was more than willing to stretch my suspension of disbelief a bit further than I might usually have.

I recommend "Executive" to those who enjoy a fun spy novel that's fairly heavy on technology and bad examples of personnel management.
This is a story about war, technology and corporations that is up to date with what is happening around the world today. The author gives us an inside look at what is going on, and things are not happening like this, she is certainly writing a good believable story about the way it could be.
I thought the writer, Leslie Wolfe, did a good job on keeping things understandable for the reader, delivering and explaining enough of the technology and politics to keep the story interesting, but not getting bogged down in it. She had good character development, and even if I didn't like all of them, I could understand why they thought the way they did.

All in all, a good story and one worth checking out for any person interested in any of the genres of technology or corporate politics, or just a plain well written thriller.
Alex Hoffman has an empty bank account, no job and her rent is due in two weeks. She spends her days on the internet searching for jobs and submitting resumes. One day, she finds an advertisement by a company simply called The Agency. It seems to fit her needs and sends off her resume. Almost immediately, she receives an email that begins the process of getting her hired for a new and exciting career...

First, I would Iike to say that the technology, science and business terminology used throughout the book is all explained by the author in such a way that it was easy to understand and follow the story. The plot was interesting and believable, so it was easy to get immersed in the beginning and it held your attention all the way through. The book was fast-paced, the characters vividly drawn and there was plenty of action, twists, turns and surprises to keep the reader entertained.

I enjoyed this book immensely and will read the others in the Alex Hoffman series and all books I can find by Leslie Wolfe.
"Executive" was one of the smartest books I've had the privilege of reading. The details of technology and new-age warfare grasp the reader and take them on a wild ride, one you would not normally expect from a first-time author. I felt like I was being subtly educated while being lulled into a transfixing story filled with suspense and thrills. With a subject matter and setting so tangibly relevant, it was nearly impossible to set down this book. I felt as if I were reading some top secret papers I was not supposed to see. If you have any interest in warfare, espionage, technology, or just plain good story-telling, this is the book for you. I'm looking forward to more from Leslie Wolfe.
